Christiane Bélanger founded two dance companies:La Compagnie Christiane Bélanger (2001) and Le Ballet de Québec (2005).

Both companies are very different even though they are composed of the same group of dancers. Two principal characteristics distinguish them:

Dance Style:

• Le Ballet de Québec presents classical ballet productions based on the Vaganova Method. It follows the traditional international ballet by using choreographies created from a well-known ballet repertoire.
• La Compagnie Christiane Bélanger revolves around an unusual type of extreme contemporary dance. Its choreographies are the results of hours of research on dancing and body expression in order to convey a deep message about humanity.

Production Type:

• Le Ballet de Québec presents important productions danced on a professional stage and uses several secondary dancers (usually coming from the Dance and School program).
• La Compagnie Christiane Bélanger offers intimate representations with a small group of principal dancers, which suits its contemporary style.

Even though both companies have their own style, they still share some techniques. For example, some choreographies of Le Ballet de Québec tend towards contemporary in their choice of music, while productions from La Compagnie Christiane Bélanger mimic some classical ballet movements.
