Christiane Bélanger-Danse school, once known as L'Académie Cadence or Les Studios Cadence, was founded in 1989. Its objective is to offer professional training easily accessible to dancers in Québec City in order to retain their talent in the region and to perfect their skills in Russian classical ballet.
The school’s popularity has been increasing over the last years and it is now recognized as a high quality classical ballet school. Christiane Bélanger-Danse greatly contributes to the success of its students' professional careers.
The school welcomes more than 350 students each year, the majority of them being youngsters from 5 to 17 years old. Different types of classes are offered to appeal to a wide range of students, from those looking for a leisure activity all the way to those seeking serious training. The classes are separated in a variety of age groups and skill level.
Classes Offered
Regular classes are separated in two sections:Intensive programs specially designed to fit the normal school schedules are offered for students that wish to master classical ballet:
Dance camps are given during the summer:
Students that are attending more than two classical ballet classes a week are allowed to enroll in a professional production class with approval from Christiane Bélanger or after passing an audition:
Location of the School
Please note that the school activities take place in two buildings: the Centre Uriel at La Cité borough and the Centre Brulart at Ste-Foy/Sillery borough.
The Centre Brulart is used to train students from the Professional Training, the Dance and School Program as well as some students from the leisure classes.
The Centre Uriel is used primarily for leisure classes and shows since it has an auditorium that can contain up to 70 spectators. Several productions from La Compagnie Christiaine Bélanger and the "end of year" shows are presented in this building.
The headquarters are located in the Centre Uriel.
Artistic Staff
The artistic staff is entirely formed of professional dancers that had a career in classical ballet before joining Le Ballet de Québec.
These professionals were all chosen by Christiane Bélanger for their knowledge of dance. Their different talents enrich the school with a variety of approaches and styles, although they all embrace the same dance philosophy and follow the Vaganova Method.
